Deena Baker-Nel

Board Member

Deena Baker-Nel is the senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Avery Dennison Corporation, a global materials science and manufacturing company with corporate headquarters in Mentor, Ohio. In this capacity and also as a trustee of the Avery Dennison Foundation, Deena’s key priorities focus on nurturing a robust talent pipeline, including early career graduates; a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace; and a culture that thrives on being a force for good in Avery Dennison communities.

Having recently established a donor-advised fund in her name in West Virginia, Deena’s goal is to give back to her hometown community by enabling funds for education-related resources in the local schools.

Combining work experience in three academic settings earlier in her career with corporate exposure through living and working in four different countries, Deena is delighted to have the opportunity to continue serving students through The College Axis Project.

Deena earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio University (Athens, Ohio) and master’s degree in counseling from West Virginia University (Morgantown, West Virginia).

Married with two children, Deena and her family live in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
